Here for children since 1983
Why? Because we need each other.

Every child needs someone who’s on their side – someone who cares about what happens to them and works to ensure their highest good.

For over 40 years, ChildFund has been working in Zambia to ensure all children live at their fullest potential at every stage of their lives.

We are people who know that we can’t afford to lose a single child to hunger, violence, disease or neglect. And that when children grow up healthy, educated and safe, everyone wins.

That’s why we partner to support children facing challenges no child should have to. Why we connect people, institutions and resources to help children beat the toughest obstacles in their lives. Because they need us, and we need them. Because we need each other, every single one of us.

With nearly 21 dedicated country office staff and working with 5 local partner organizations in 21 Districts, we respond to major emergencies and deliver sustainable child-focused development programs to build a better future for and with children across Zambia. In addition, we implement nationwide advocacy campaigns to impact all children and youth in the country.

Who We Are

Child Focused

We exist for children – and their voices and experiences guide everything we do. Each year, we reach millions of children and family members contending with poverty through programs that support them to create the conditions children need to thrive

Community Centered

As a community development organization, we work hand in hand with communities to diminish the impact of poverty on children. Because we believe that lasting change comes from within, we support communities to take the lead in identifying their needs and shaping the solutions that work best for them.

Locally-Led

We work with 5 local partner organizations to implement various child-focused programs in 21 Districts. These partners bring invaluable insights and connections, enabling us to tailor our programs to the specific needs of each community.

People First

We believe that people are people, no matter their circumstances or experiences, and that their value is intrinsic and immeasurable. We strive to honor the dignity of every child in our programs and every human being we meet, no matter what.

Accelerating progress for children

Our ambition for 2026 is to contribute to the improved health, education, skills and safety of 1.2 million plus children and youth annually by implementing quality, cost-effective, and impactful programs.
